WHY: Funding for Alzheimer’s care and research is now more critical than ever.

o As many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and that figure is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050.
There are 294,000 right here in the Delaware Valley
o There are as many as 10 million people in the U.S. caring for someone with Alzheimer’s;
o 19 percent of those caregivers are between the ages of 18 and 34.
o Surveys show that 18-34 year olds (65 percent) are just as likely as seniors (64 percent) to be concerned about themselves or a family member developing Alzheimer’s.

The Alzheimer’s Association has created QUASH, a completely new take on a fundraising event, to help raise money to support the organization’s mission of eliminating Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

MEDIA: There will be interviews available with Philadelphia Eagle Linebacker Chris Gocong, NBC 10’s Monique Braxton, and Delaware Valley Chapter Director Special Events Kathryn DiSalvo as well as QUASH participants.
